Counseling services are available to help people improve their health status by Helping them choose the best doctor for their health needs, Providing information about medications prescribed by their doctors, Assisting with transportation to appointments, Referring clients who have a chronic mental illness for psychiatric care when appropriate, Providing case management services for those experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

The Goal of Community Public Health Indicator Service

The Community Public Health Indicator Service provides free individualized counseling to persons who are uninsured or underinsured. The goal of this service is to provide community members with information and support on how to access healthcare services, understand their rights under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and navigate the healthcare system in general. Counselors will help you understand your options for getting coverage; answer questions about applying for Medicaid or other insurance programs; provide referrals for local providers that accept Medicaid; explain how ACA provisions work in practice; and more!

Public Health Indicator

The CPHS is a service of the Health Department, but it operates independently from other programs within the agency. The CPHS includes A trained staff member who provides information and education about health insurance options, including Medicaid and CHIP coverage; A computerized system that generates client eligibility determinations based on information provided by applicants; and Certified application counselors who assist individuals with completing applications for health insurance programs such as Medicaid or CHIP coverage. The CPHS is a free service provided to residents of the City of Philadelphia. The CPHS is located at all Health Department centers, including The offices will be open on Saturdays from 9 am-1 pm, beginning July 7th.

Counseling services are available to help people improve their health. Counseling can be individualized and tailored to address specific problems, such as alcohol and substance abuse, depression, anxiety disorders, and chronic illness management. The following services are provided:

Counseling is free of charge and confidential. It is also available in person or over the phone in English or Spanish for anyone who lives in San Francisco County. Many community-based organizations, such as the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic, provide free or low-cost mental health counseling. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but appointments are recommended because they tend to book up quickly.
